Anna Vineyard, Artist in Residence, Canada

Writing

Residency Dates: April 2026

Studio H Canada is thrilled to welcome Anna Vineyard from Saltspring Island, BC, Canada.

Life is busy, too busy! This residency will allow me the space to hear my own voice, to honour the time I’ve spent listening, and birth my book into the world through final edits and submissions. I will also be working on gathering research and outlining my second book, which explores the theme of generational legacies. In this work I will be paying attention to the intricate dynamics of relationship, especially those which we redefine through metamorphosis of growth.

About the Artist

Anna Vineyard

Anna Vineyard is an emerging writer who draws on her own experiences with nature and neurodivergence to uncover beauty and truth.

Her memoir, “The Road Less Typical” is about her family’s year long road trip adventure in the National Parks of the USA. It explores the dynamics between being a mother and caregiver, taking risks with disabled children, trusting in their capacity to grow and overcome, as well as their right to experience the world. Anna will be using the time in residency for final editing and submitting this work for publishing.

Anna has two published works “Chasing Dreams, Facing Nightmares,” 2024, included in True Tales Pandemic Stories anthology and “For the Love of Yogurt,” 2025, included in True Tales from The 90-Day Memoir: Mothers anthology. Her debut children’s book, “The Voice of an Ostrich” brings a new perspective on communication, neurodivergence, and acceptance, showing that adaptation to support children’s needs is not only attainable, but meaningful.

Anna runs a non-profit serving families raising neurodivergent children in the Gulf Islands

(https://thediversevillage.ca), homeschools two of her four children, enjoys hiking, kayaking, working in her garden and training the family’s new puppy for service work.

The artist joining Anna at Studio H Canada International Residency is Myranda Storm from Vancouver, BC, Canada. Stay Tuned for more information about this artist in an upcoming blog post.
