Rolling Deadline for 2025: Limited spots are still open for March, April, Sept, Oct, and Nov.

Studio H Canada International Artists Residency (SHC) program is open to textile artist residencies for the 2025 calendar year!

Studio H Canada is grateful to live and create on unceded Coast Salish territories. We acknowledge our traditional hosts and neighbours the Sci’anew Nation (Beecher Bay, T’Sou’ke Nation, and Nuu-chah-nulth Pacheedaht Nation and strive to honour them in a spirit of respect and creativity.

Located on the beautiful west coast of British Columbia, Canada on southern Vancouver Island, SHC offers a fantastic opportunity to work in a fabulous studio with luxurious accommodations including a hot tub and two acres of forest and gardens. This area of Canada is known for its beautiful wilderness and coastal environment.

Studio H Canada encourages textile artists from Canada and around the world who are interested in working on 2D and 3D textile projects including weaving, felting, embroidery, and sewing (hand work and machine) to apply now. Artists do not need to be primarily working in textiles to apply; however, the artist’s residency goals and project should be textile focused. While at Studio H Canada, artists will have access to textile equipment including three sewing machines, a Janome 550e embroidery machine, and a LeClerc tapestry loom. We strive to pair a Canadian artist with an international artist!

The Studio

The studio is located in a separate building from the suites overlooking the property’s garden. The main studio space is approximately 1,000 square feet and has high ceilings and large walls, and is perfect for projects of all shapes and sizes.

There is a dedicated textile and tapestry area separate from the multimedia studio space and includes a LeClerc loom, drum carder, sewing machines, Janome 550e embroidery machine and yarn baller, perfect for artists looking to work on textile projects including but not limited to weaving, felt-making, sewing, embroidery, and tapestry. A variety of hand tools are available to use, however, artists should provide their own specialized tools if necessary. Local wools are available for artists to use for a small additional fee.
