Studio H Canada is thrilled to welcome Ashlee Banxxs, an emerging, textile artist and designer from Atlanta, Georgia, USA as the Artist in Residence during July!

While at SHC, Ashlee will be developing a new form of textile art inspired by sustainability and abstract form; “As a sustainable artist, I prioritize using eco-friendly and recycled materials in my art practice to minimize waste and environmental impact”. Through giving new life to discarded items, Ashlee strives to send a powerful message about environmental awareness while creating beautiful, meaningful pieces, that enrich out spaces.

“By consciously selecting and repurposing items for my artwork, I aim to inspire others to consider sustainability in their consumption and disposal habits.”

About the Artist

Ashlee McDaniel (Ashlee Banxxs) received her Bachelor of Arts in Apparel Merchandising and Design from Alabama A&M University and her MA in Art and Design from Kennesaw State University. Her multidisciplinary approach in painting and textiles allows her to experiment with different mediums and techniques, resulting in a diverse body of captivating and socially conscious work. Ashlee’s art sheds light on important issues such as climate change and consumerism, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating meaningful art.

Her work has been featured in several group shows and two solo art exhibits. McDaniel is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Women’s Eco Artist Dialog, and the National Art Education Association. She has been featured on the Revolt Network miniseries “In A Session.”

Ashlee currently resides in Atlanta, GA, USA.

  1. Lovely! I am currently working on a quilt made of repurposed men’s shirts. The cotton in good shirting is, after year so wear, soft and comfortable, and seems a natural for baby quilts.
