I am looking forward to ending my summer at Studio H International Artist Residency as this will grant me the time and space to ground and reset my practice after a busy summer of development and public presentation.
Field recordings, underwater sound captures and touch synthesis will be the tools that I implement to document the sonic identity of surrounding nature. I will also use this time to prepare for my debut EP release as a follow up to premiering my first body at work with Mutek in a live audio/visual dome setting.
Release strategy, track mixing & mastering, vlogging, track visual identities development will all be workshopped during this time.
I am actively seeking to interact with communities across Vancouver Island by performing live hybrid sets that include CDJ’s, vocals, controllers, piano and nature sound design to invite participants into Djeity’s sonic world building practice.
About the Artist
Della Orrey/Djeity (she/they) is a Tiohtià:ke – Mooniyang – Montréal based music composer and sound designer who has founded Public Deity Records seeking to investigate the post pandemic landscape of the music/recording industry while establishing their emerging artist catalog under the moniker Djeity. Genre bending and sonic world building with technology is the medium that Djeity utilizes while exploring themes of identity, healing and the modern expanse of blackness.
Within the audio-visual realm, their work supports a variety of formats ranging from (but not limited to) short films, advertising and virtual reality and has found them contributing to numerous international campaigns for Nike, Apple, and Adidas.
2025 is a year of development including live curation for community building, interactive hybrid A/V performance, and inter-disciplinary collaboration across their creative community in Québec and beyond.
