Ruby Webb – Artist in Residence, USA

Textiles, Fashion

Residency Dates: May 4-31, 2025

Studio H Canada is thrilled to welcome Ruby Webb, an emerging, size inclusive fashion designer and textile artist from Oregon, USA.

Most of the time, my garment creation is the beginning and the end result is photography. I sew pieces in my studio basement and then once I’ve finished, I tend to naturally think about ideas of where/how I might want to photograph them. Textiles consciously and unconsciously motivate me to merge the lines between my concepts, spaces, and imagery.

During my time at Studio H I plan to create a sustainable garment collection, take photos on the land & create a small lookbook! I want to soak up moments of time where I’m able to just create freely in a new environment. Sewing consistently, exploring the community & savoring my month spent here are the things I’m looking forward to the most!

About the Artist

Ruby Webb is a sustainable and size inclusive textile designer and photographer, born in Portland, Oregon, USA in 2003 . Her garments explore the concept of playful nostalgia within the reins of textiles. The act of patchwork and reworking is utilized as a vessel to spotlight textures and memories. Her garments and photographs have been shown in The New York Times, Womanly Magazine, Al-Tiba9, Fat Zine Blog, Mildew Magazine, and more.
