Reggie Harrold – Artist in Residence, Canada

Textiles, Indigenous Fashion

Residency Dates: February 2024

Studio H Canada is thrilled to welcome Reggie Harrold, an emerging, Indigenous fashion designer and artist from British Columbia, Canada. Reggie will be continuing work on a fashion collection started while at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in Alberta.

I am from the Fort Nelson First Nation in B.C and currently based in Vancouver. My work in fashion design and textiles explores the intersection of traditional Indigenous cultural practices and contemporary fashion. Through this residency, I aim to finish a collection that combines my Indigenous heritage through craftsmanship, modern design, and utilizing sustainable and ethically sourced materials. My goal is to engage with both traditional techniques, such as beading and knitting, and contemporary fashion design, creating pieces that are not only aesthetically compelling but also reflect my indigenous culture.

Through this residency I would like to complete a fashion collection I have been working on starting in 2020 at the John Casablancas International Institute Fashion Design program and continued at my residency in the Banff Center of Arts earlier this year. I will achieve these goals by dedicating time to intensive design work, experimentation with materials, and integrating cultural research both my own and from the local area.
