Studio H Canada is thrilled to welcome Daniela P. Meier, a multidisciplinary visual artist from Lucerne, Switzerland as the International Artist in Residence for the month of June!
While at SHC, Daniela will be focusing on drawing, collage, frottage, and cyanotype from postcard size to large format. Daniela is inspired by the surroundings, found objects, and the experiences of her year-long art journey; since April 2023 she has been on a studio and workshop tour throughout Europe and North America, documenting her experiences in with sketching and note-taking.

About the Artist
I work predominantly in the medium of object, installation and image. Since 2018 I have been active in the Studio Community FUSILLI in Kriens, which I co-founded. The results of my work include not only artworks, but also social networking, a madness for organization, playful experiments and the collection of seemingly worthless and strange things. Collectables and artworks are meticulously stored in boxes and Excel lists.
Riso journey from Europe to North America
In April 2023, I traveled by foot, hitchhiking, public transport and boat from Lucerne to Chicago, where the residential studio of the Lucerne-Chicago city partnership was waiting for me in winter. From there, the journey continued in April 2024 by train to the West Coast and from Los Angeles by road trip to Vancouver. On the art trip, I mainly limited my artistic practice to sketching and note-taking. I reproduce selected drawings at print shops using risography and send the prints by mail. The risographs are sent to subscribers who support the project and keep up to date with it exclusively, as well as to loved ones I meet on my journey. So far, I have visited 20 print workshops in Switzerland, France, Spain and the USA and hope to add more as I continue my journey through Canada.
